Hi, I'm Maddy Bird

Welcome

Thank you for being curious enough to explore and spend time looking at my page. Never did I think this would be a thing for me!

Yet here I am stepping outside of my comfort zone, feeling brave enough to have conversations with people who have a career past/present and future in adult social care where we can openly discuss the things that matter to us, and the possible change we would like to see in the future of care.

My Blog

FIRSTLY, I NEED YOU TO GET TO KNOW ME AS A HUMAN BEING

I am a mother, a wife, a founder of a Home Care Agency in Torbay - Love To Care Devon.

I love being surrounded by family, enjoy music (all genres) love a nice long dog walk, and I am a bit of a foodie! Relationships matter to me.

I spend a lot of time wanting to get to know people, understanding what matters most to people, I feel like by doing this I can understand perspective.

I am very intuitive - the team I work with, know I am a true empath, and often mock me for my sixth sense gut feelings. I am a problem solver, through and through.

I often feel helpless, when I feel that something is beyond my limitations and role, or when I can not fix something for someone. This often leads me to feeling misunderstood by others, (something I am working on!) I am a bubbly, passionate person, I would like to think I am fun, I often laugh at my own jokes, and super glad my son has a similar sense of humour to me!

I am definitely an overthinker and someone who loves to reflect, whilst sometimes uncomfortable, the reflection normally takes me/us to a better place of wisdom and creativity which I have used to enhance my service and my own self. My team, my service and the people we support all matter. I often find myself advocating for the people we care for, so that our team can deliver only the very best care possible. I am fortunate enough to have an amazing team who share the same values and who genuinely love what they do.
